Winter warmer for businesses

Eligible firms can apply for financial help through the York and North Yorkshire Business Environmental Forum's Environmental Technologies Grant to upgrade their heating systems and reduce their environmental impact ready for the winter months. This financial support has been developed to help eligible businesses make recommended energy efficiency improvements and install energy efficient technologies.

Therese Hamill, the Project Co-ordinator said: "Environmental efficiency is more important now than ever and many businesses aren't aware that they need to start acting now if they want processes in place ready for this winter."

One of the businesses helped by the financial support is The Cavendish Hotel in Scarborough.

Owner, Bev Miller said: "Our boilers were in desperate need of a change so we looked around for someone who could advise us on the options available to us."

The Cavendish Hotel used the financial support to replace their heating system and top up on their roof insulation and are now enjoying 33% cost saving on their fuel bills.

This programme is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and Yorkshire Forward and managed by Business Link York and North Yorkshire.

The project will assist businesses that are based in rural, upland and coastal (Objective 2) areas of North Yorkshire. To find out if you qualify please contact the Forum on 01904 554541 or check the Eligibility Page.
