End of Life Vehicles (ELVs) Directive

The ELVs Directive was passed as European law in October 2000. It enforces the de-pollution of vehicles prior to dismantling, recycling or disposal. Those who de-pollute ELV's must have a licence to do so. It also ensures that producers reduce the hazardous material used in vehicles and increase their recycling potential.
