Free Environmental Seminars - How to reduce waste and save money.

As waste disposal options are reduced and landfill tax increases, the disposal of waste is becoming more of a problem and a cost for all types of business. The York and North Yorkshire Business Environmental Forum is hosting 2 free seminars to help businesses and organisations identify, reduce, reuse and recycle their waste and save money.

The seminar will be run by Envirowise who are a Government funded organisation set up to provide environmental advice to businesses to improve profitability and reduce environmental impact. The seminar will consist of a workshop to identify ways that businesses and organisations can achieve cost reductions and environmental improvements by reducing the amounts of waste produced. Significant cost savings can be achieved from reductions in waste disposal costs, better use of materials and resultant improvement in business efficiency. Typically waste can cost business 4% of turnover and improvements can have a significant impact on profit.

There will also be information on all other free environmental business support schemes which are currently available across North Yorkshire including services available from Envirowise.

WhyWaste is launching its brand new, free online waste exchange enabling companies to advertise material they do not want or to advertise for material they would like. The scheme is open to businesses, community groups and other organisations who simply register details of their waste at www.whywaste.org.uk. The scheme is part of a Yorkshire and Humber wide exchange and also links into other regions across England. The event will outline details of the scheme and other opportunities for environmental business support in the region.
