Environmental Policy

An Environmental Policy is a written statement outlining an organisation's mission in relation to managing and improving the environmental effects and aspects of its operations.

The Benefits

Writing an Environmental Policy will ensure that your whole organisation understands its environmental goals and what it aims to achieve. It demonstrates to customers your commitment to the environment and enhances your image. Some buyers favour suppliers who are able to show that they have considered their environmental impact. It can also help you comply with environmental legislation and reduce incidents that may result in liability. An environmental policy will improve staff motivation as employees will feel more satisfied towards a company with a responsible approach to its environmental impact.

A good example is provided by Kirklees Council West Yorkshire.
